Another Crazy Week

What another crazy week it has been in Hercules Class! Busy busy!

We started looking at newspaper reports this week, the structure, format, formality and language features. We have been focusing carefully on which person to use and when (first, second and third). Eventually the children will be writing their own newspaper reports, in third person, but will all shift it to first person when using a quotation.
So for example:
Third Person
First Person
When asked about the crime the police officer replied "I will not rest until we find out who did this"
This is a tricky skill and so maybe this is something that children could work on at home if you have a spare 10 minutes.

It is our final week on multiplication and division, the children have been working so hard this week and have been pushing their learning to the limit, reasoning and problem solving. Next week we are going to move into money and then the final week of term will be statistics.

Hooray! Recorders has started again. Mrs Hulford has managed to find Hercules a wonderful new recorder teacher and she will be in class every Thursday afternoon. Everyone is super excited and can't wait to get stuck back in.
Children are more than welcome to take recorders home with them, but they need to be in school every Thursday from now on.

Finally, a new homework has gone out this afternoon and will be for terms 3 and 4. Children will still receive spelling weekly, but should now complete homework from the grid this term and next.

Let's hope for more fab learning next week!
